***Mentor Training dates are March 29 or April 26
at The Village Chapel 10:45AM in Heritage Hall.*** Mentors. Every participant in the class should have the opportunity to receive a mentor if they wish. A mentor will commit to supporting a student as they go through the class by making weekly contact -preferably face-to-face, encouraging them and, discussing class material. Mentors and mentor families will join at the beginning of classes for the meal together but do not attend class. Mentors are not to give financial assistance to students during the program. |
Transportation Providers. Many of the moms and dads may not have transportation to the weekly class. Having volunteers who are willing to transport, is a way to remove an obstacle for the students. The ride can also be a great time for gospel and fellowship conversations.
People to provide a Meal [catered or cooked]. The meal is a key component of the classroom portion of the program. Not only does the meal meet a physical need, but we also believe that hospitality is an apologetic for our Gospel message. The meal breaks down walls of mistrust, anxiety, or shyness; and the meal is a great time for connections to be made. Childcare workers. Like transportation, providing childcare will remove obstacles for those parents who do not have a safe place for their kids to go during the classroom time. Children join their parents for the meal, so that families can eat together |

Co-leaders for classroom teaching. Each class should have 1 set of Co-Leaders [using the same set for the entire 7 weeks]. Co-leaders should be doctrinally sound, capable of teaching and engaging with the students, empathetic, and non-judgmental. [They should not be shocked by sin! Remember their greatest need is Christ, NOT for us to fix their sin]

As financial pitfalls, drugs, alcohol, stress, depression, and other barriers invade a family’s life, many parents find themselves at-risk of being separated, or already separated, from their children. |
The median amount of time a child spends in foster care is just over one year. We know through research statistics that a child who grows up without a stable home environment and without parents is more likely to have negative socio-economic, cognitive, and academic outcomes.We also know God designed the family unit as a place of healing and safety for children. And a broken family needs the support, healing, mercy, and guidance from God’s people.

Through Families Count, local churches have a platform to minister to and walk with broken families to help them be restored and preserved. Thank you, Village Chapel, for bringing this year's training and classes to life as our host.
